Our Mission
Since 1988, Her Health First (HHF)’s primary mission has been to lower the infant mortality rate and improve pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences for African American residents in Sacramento County. HHF has consistently achieved its goal of providing access to quality healthcare and connecting African American women to services that support and improve their well-being. As a support system, we tackle the most demanding challenges pregnant African American women face head-on. Through our core program, Black Mothers United (BMU), we provide culturally sensitive pregnancy peer support, doula, and lactation services to African American birthing people. BMU has served over 900 pregnant community members since program inception in 2014, benefiting not only those who receive direct services, but also their infants, children, partners and families.
